ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Celebrating life’s special moments through photography…
Forty years ago my husband handed me his single lens reflex camera and taught me how to use it. That was the beginning and there’s been no looking back.
I’m happiest when photographing anything – be it a beautiful location while traveling (as one of my mentors said, “When you get lucky, be ready”), dogs romping on the beach, dewdrops on a blade of grass, or children playing at the playground. As long as there’s a lens and camera involved, it works for me.
I try to be in the present, being grateful for this moment. A camera in my hand keeps me there, enjoying life and my passion. Have you ever noticed when you are still, how much you appreciate the beauty in small things?
I love setting up a still life, capturing reflections in glasses or water, creating images to stir one’s imagination. Give me a topic and I’ll attempt to create something unique. But my favorite photography project is one involving people, especially children; their innocence and joy in celebrating every moment captivates me. Their wonder at the little things that adults have stopped noticing enchants me. And their constant movement (sometimes in trying to avoid the camera!) challenges me.
To me, making a photograph is a celebration of the world’s color, beauty and essence.
